The Mobile & Wireless Communications Summit

The Mobile and Wireless Summit focuses on bringing together experts from the worldwide wireless industry and research communities.

Recent advances in all fields related to mobile and wireless communications will be presented, thereby facilitating the identification of future trends, illumination of business opportunities, and discussion on the future roles of various bodies from academia, industry, and research centres in helping to form the vision of an ambient, truly intelligent communications environment.

From 19th to 23rd June 2005, the Vodafone Chair at TU Dresden hosted the IST Mobile and Wireless Communications Summit.

More than 300 scientific contributions from 34 countries and sessions and workshops with more than 700 participants fueled an extensive exchange about latest developments and research in the world of mobile communications.

It was a diverse summit programme, featuring:

Technical sessions in 4 parallel tracks, plus posters from individual authors and R&D projects

4 tutorials and 8 workshops, Panels on B3G/4G, the Trend towards Simplicity, and IP over DVB, Special sessions on 4G system proposals in Asia and on WWRF's activities, and an

Exhibition, featuring live demos from companies and projects.

The summit helped in identifying trends for wireless research in general, and it gave directions for the European framework programme in particular. Last not least it was the city and its unique, charming atmosphere that contributed to the success of the conference.
