Mobile Technologies and Lawyers
Sources state the number one reason many clients leave one law
firm and go to another is the lack of response. What this means is a client wants his or her attorney to be able to be contacted
quickly. Responding to the client just as fast is important.
The clients panic and want answers.
A lawyer who can not be reached will not have a large practice. Mobile technologies have allowed
lawyers to be on call virtually twenty four hours a day.
Of course everyone is familiar with the cell
phone. Yet there are new ways the up and coming lawyer can keep in contact with his or her
clients. The new PDA (personal digital assistant) can keep a lawyer at the top of his
game.
And at the top of his client's list. With this versatile piece of mobile technology a lawyer can keep track of meetings, access the Internet, and
even send a fax. It can act as a cell phone, a calendar, and a data storage
system.
Lawyers Rechtsanwalt can now be as mobile as their clients. When someone needs a copy
of a document, the lawyer can access it through his PDA and fax it over. If a client sends an
email with an important letter attached, the PDA will allow the lawyer to log on to the Internet and retrieve the information in
seconds. There is almost nothing many of the new mobile technologies can do for a
lawyer.
People look every day for a good lawyer who can assist them in everything from
writing a will to setting up offshore accounts. These people want a lawyer who is capable of knowing the answers to questions when they are
asked. They do not want to wait until the next scheduled meeting.
The new clients want to know they have hired someone who is
competent to do the job. If the lawyer is not available or does not respond in a timely manner,
the client will search elsewhere for one who does.
Mobile technology plays an important role in today's
society. There are people who do not stay in contact with relatives simply because there is no
email address for them. Now when someone asks for your phone number, you have to ask which one
they want, the house number or the cell phone.
There is a web site address at the bottom of almost every
commercial you see on television. People like their freedom and mobility. They like the age of technology.
With all this access to so much information and technology, the lawyer who does not advance with
it, will be left behind. Lawyers are blogging now. They
have their own social networking sites. They are organized by case management
software.
Their clients expect the lawyers to be on top of their game. The lawyer is the expert
who knows the new laws, policies, and other changes which will affect a court case. If this is
not the way the client perceives the lawyer, the client will look elsewhere.
